Mordor was a black, volcanic plain located in the southeast of Middle-earth to the East of Gondor, Ithilien and the great river Anduin. Mordor was chosen by Sauron to be his realm because of the mountain ranges surrounding it on three sides, creating a natural fortress against his enemies.
The Lord of the Nazgûl, sometimes known as the Witch-king of Angmar, was the leader of the Nazgûl (Ringwraiths) and Sauron’s second-in-command during the Second and Third Ages. His true identity is unknown; once a king of Men, possibly of Númenórean heritage, he was corrupted by one of the nine Rings of Power that had been given to the lords of men, becoming a wraith in the service of Sauron.
